DESCRIPTION:Black History Month takes place every October in the UK. \nThe theme for Black History Month UK 2025 is “Standing Firm in Power and Pride\,” a powerful tribute to the resilience\, strength\, and unwavering commitment to progress that defines the Black community across the globe. This year\, the theme highlights the profound contributions made by Black people be they leaders\, activists\, or pioneers who have shaped history\, while also looking towards a future of continued empowerment\, unity\, and growth. \n  \nLIVE ASSEMBLY \nOur school was one of 4\,300 that joined to watch Picture News’ live assembly on Friday 3 October. \nOur School Council members will also be exploring an element of black history to share with classes later on in the month. \n  \nRECOMMENDED READING LIST \nTo celebrate Black History Month\, we have created a recommended reading list for you and your children to enjoy together. SUMMARY:Harvest Festival
DESCRIPTION:We are going to be hosting our annual Harvest Festival on Monday 13th October 2025.  Once again this year we are supporting the Lakeside Community Project\, whose foodbank helps many families in our local community. We will be accepting donations of produce at school from Wednesday 8th October 2025 until Monday 13th\, when a member of the LCP will join us for the assembly and transport the produce back to the foodbank so they can make an immediate impact. Children can give any donations directly to their teachers and TAs\, who will bring them to the hall for the assembly. \nFood Bank Donation Suggestions \nPlease consider donating items with a long shelf life\, such as: \n\nCanned goods – soup\, vegetables\, fruit\, beans\, tuna\nDry pasta and rice – easy to store and cook\nBreakfast cereals\nLong-life milk or milk alternatives – UHT cartons\nTinned meals – chilli\, stew\, pasta dishes\nCooking sauces – jars or packets\nTea\, coffee and hot chocolate – sealed containers\nBiscuits and snack bars – individually wrapped preferred\n\nThis is an in school event but we will be sharing some photos/videos of some of our harvest songs/poems on the website. \nThank you in advance for your support.
