DESCRIPTION:The theme for this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is This is my Place. \n  \nThat means feeling like you’re part of something\, such as your family\, your school\, your group of friends or a team. These happy moments help us feel connected\, valued\, and accepted. When we feel like we belong\, we feel happy\, safe\, and ready to learn and play. It helps us grow strong in our minds and bodies\, and it makes it easier to make friends\, do well in school\, and feel good about ourselves. \nDuring Children’s Mental Health Week\, we’ll be talking about how we can help everyone feel like they belong. We will share This is my Place so we can learn from each other what makes us feel happy. (It should not be fragile or precious.) \nWe would like your child to be able to talk for up to a couple of minutes about their chosen object / memory etc. They can show it while talking\, but should not read a prepared text. We are trying to encourage the development of their oracy skills (the ability to express oneself fluently and grammatically in speech). SUMMARY:Reception Towers and Turrets Day
DESCRIPTION:Towers and Turrets Day is an extremely exciting day whereby children come into school dressed up as something related to our learning about castles. In the past we have had dragons\, knights\, princesses\, kings and queens! \nThe date for our ‘Towers and Turrets Day’ will be Friday 13th February. \nPlease can your child come to school in their costumes that day. They will be going outside for break and lunch as normal so they will also need to bring a suitable coat and alternative outdoor shoes (if needed).

DESCRIPTION:As part of our Children’s Mental Health Week activities\, we will be taking part in Dress to Express Day on Friday 13 February. \nOn Friday 13 February\, children in Years 1 to 6 are invited to come to school in non-school uniform to dress to express. This could be through colours\, patterns\, favourite clothes\, or outfits that help them feel happy\, confident\, or comfortable. There is no pressure to dress up in any particular way. The focus is simply on self expression. \nReception children will be taking part in their planned Towers and Turrets Day on Friday 13 February and will therefore not be joining Dress to Express. \nThroughout the week\, all children will be learning about mental health and wellbeing. We will be encouraging them to talk about their feelings\, recognise emotions\, and understand the importance of looking after their mental health\, just as we do our physical health. \nThank you for your continued support in helping us promote positive mental health and wellbeing within our school community.

SUMMARY:Year 3 Cornet Lessons
DESCRIPTION:Whole Class Ensemble Music Tuition Year 3 \nDear Parents. \nWe are delighted to be able to share with you that we have secured 10 weeks of specialist music lessons for our children in Year 3 next term. Music teachers from Gloucestershire Music will come into school each week to provide tuition. \nIn addition to the music curriculum that we already offer\, in January\, Year 3 will be taught to play the cornet by a specialist teacher. We hope that in providing them the opportunities to learn to play a musical instrument\, they may just fall in love with one of them and continue their musical journey beyond our school! \nWe are asking parents to make a small voluntary contribution of £8 towards the cost of the 10 week programme of specialist tuition lessons as it would be impossible to fund the course in its entirety out of school money. All payments can be made through the ParentPay system by 31st January. \nWCET Music Tuition 2026 \nInstrument Hire \nGloucestershire Music would like to offer the WCET £10 Instrumental Hire Offer to students so that they are able to take an instrument home and practice the skills learnt in class with our Gloucestershire Music WCET tutor. As part of this deal students can bring their newly hired instrument to a music centre foundation ensemble for no charge to develop their ensemble playing and further inspire them to make music.\nInstrument delivery is available as part of this scheme for instruments applied for before 4.00pm Friday 23rd January 2026. SUMMARY:Jam Coding: Minecraft Education - KS2
DESCRIPTION:Jam Coding will be running a Minecraft Education after school clubs for Years 3-6 weekly on Fridays. For those that enjoyed previous Minecraft course this is a great follow on but still possible for those that did not get a place. Children will program their digital agent sidekick with visual code to conquer quests such as dancing\, building\, unleashing explosive TNT and even launching a volley of arrows! \nThe clubs will run for 5 weeks and will operate on a first come first served basis.
