SUMMARY:Author Visit: Abi Elphinstone
DESCRIPTION:We have welcomed bestselling author Abi Elphinstone to talk to our Y4-6 children. \nShe told us all about her journey to becoming a writer\, finding extraordinary in the ordinary – like using shower gel and road names to inspire characters – and taking inspiration from the wild. \nShe shared with us about some phenomenal experiences she has had with tribes and wolf-hunting golden eagles in Mongolia\, abseiling into caves in Brazil and spotting elusive wild cats in Scotland. \nFinally\, we got to see and hear some of the inspiration for her latest book ‘Goodnight Silver’\, too. \nIt was a wonderful privilege for us to welcome such an esteemed author into our school\, and we are grateful to Waterstones for having recommended Warden Hill as a reading school! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nAbiElphinstone.com\n\n \nEmmy doesn’t believe in miracles. In her experience\, hoping for extraordinary things never ends well. So\, when a blizzard separates her from her parents in the mountains of Mongolia\, she thinks it’s all over. \nThen\, out of the shadows of the cave she shelters in\, steps a snow leopard cub. An animal hunters are out to steal. Emmy has no idea how she or the cub are going to survive until she meets a boy who believes in impossible things. \nTogether\, they set off on a dangerous journey to find Whisperfell\, a magical land where wild animals live in peace. But with the hunters closing in\, can they get the cub to safety before it’s too late? Perhaps it’s time to believe in miracles\, after all… \n \nRusty Fizzbang\, vet to magical beasts\, needs an apprentice. Ember Spark\, looking for adventure\, is his newest recruit – and together with an unlikely friend\, Arno\, she is sent to help a baby dragon whose parents have gone missing. But keeping magical beasts a secret isn’t an easy task\, especially with arch-villain\, Jasper Hornswoggle\, hot on their heels and keen to derail them…
