SUMMARY:Author Visit: Kirsty Applebaum
DESCRIPTION:We had a fantastic time with our visiting author Kirsty Applebaum on Monday. Year 6 took part in creative writing workshops: developing characters\, settings\, and story plots. Their ideas were incredible and Kirsty was very impressed with the creativity and detail.\nAll our junior children were able to listen to Kirsty during our afternoon assembly. She shared some of her novels with them and then we created a Key Stage 2 story with ideas suggested by the children. We ended up with a footballer who was sent to the jungle to fight in a war and who was being attacked by stray spiky footballs!\nAt the end of the day\, Kirsty signed books for our children and chatted to them about their reading.\nThese events really do help to inspire a love of reading which in turns leads to progress being made. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nOn Monday\, April 20th\, celebrated writer\, Kirsty Applebaum\, will be a special guest of Warden Hill Primary School. \nKirsty Applebaum is a uniquely skilled writer\, curious and ‘dextrous’ in her approach and subject matter. Kirsty\nApplebaum’s books have been included within Book Trust’s Great Books’ Guides. DESCRIPTION:Rearranged Final Balanceability Session  \nChildren should come to school wearing their PE kit and trainers. They may also bring their own bike helmet\, as they did last week. \nChildren who have a pedal bike (without stabilisers) and are able to ride unaided are welcome to bring their bikes in and leave them in the bike rack as you enter school. Please let us know at the gate on drop-off if your child has brought their bike into school. \nBringing in a pedal bike is optional and not required for everyone. The children will still participate in the session without their own bike and we do have some pedal bikes available for children who feel confident and would like to have a go.

They will have the opportunity to handle real and replica artefacts and they will also discover new and memorable facts about everyday life in ancient Egypt\, helping to bring their history learning to life in an exciting and meaningful way. \nIn addition to this\, we will be visiting the dinosaur\, geology and minerals exhibits which will reinforce our science unit on “Rocks and Soils”. \nSchool Uniform should be worn.
