DESCRIPTION:This term\, the children will be learning and practising spellings each week as part of our English curriculum. \nEvery Monday\, your child will be given five spellings to learn. These spellings will be stuck into the back of their Reading Journal and will be tested on the following Monday. \nWe encourage children to practise their spellings regularly throughout the week. A useful method they can use is Look\, Cover\, Write\, Check:\n1. Look at the spelling carefully.\n2. Cover the word.\n3. Write it from memory.\n4. Check it against the original spelling and correct any mistakes. \nBelow is a table showing the spelling test dates and the spellings that will be tested each week. \nThank you for your support in helping your child practise their spellings at home. (It should not be fragile or precious.) \nWe would like your child to be able to talk for up to a couple of minutes about their chosen object / memory etc. They can show it while talking\, but should not read a prepared text. We are trying to encourage the development of their oracy skills (the ability to express oneself fluently and grammatically in speech). DESCRIPTION:1B Forest School Sessions\n1B will be having sessions of forest school on Friday afternoons\, dates as follows:\nNovember 6th\, 13th\, 20th and December 4th\, 11th and 18th \nWe go out in all weathers and will supply the children with waterproof dungarees. Children can come to school wearing their forest school clothes and bring wellies in a separate bag. \nForest School\nPlease be aware these clothes will get wet/muddy and MUST include long sleeve t-shirts and long sleeve joggers/trousers and wellies/trainers as well as sun cream/hat or waterproof coats as suited to the weather on the day.\nIf your child goes to WHASC\, you may wish to pack a spare set of clothes in case they get wet.
