Year 3 had a fantastic time visiting Clearwell Caves in the Forest of Dean this week. The trip consolidated the children’s learning about rocks and soils and gave them the opportunity to see the different formations of rocks in a real-life situation. The children gained a greater knowledge about fossils and were able to see various different types which had been found in the caves, along with learning about how they were created. The teachers were really impressed with the questions which the children asked the guides, especially as they were able to use the correct terminology such as sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous.
