Wednesday 23rd October saw our second house sports event of the year – the highly-prized House Football.
After Churn’s success in house cross-country, the children were eager to see if their house would be victorious across a day where each child in the school took part in four drills challenging their football skills: a close dribbling course; an agility station, requiring accurate shooting; a passing game; and the ultimate challenge of scoring past a year 6 goalkeeper.
All of these games earned points for their houses, and each game was brilliantly led by our house, vice and sports captains and also our superb team of sports leaders.
Windrush were the highest scorers in the dribbling game, Coln were most successful in beating the Y6 keeper, Churn achieved the highest score in passing while Leach and Coln were equally successful in the agility and accuracy skills.
Our mixed tournament ran in the afternoon and was 8-a-side and teams comprised of 4 boys and 4 girls on the pitch at any one time. The games were played in the typically highly-competitive spirit and a couple of last-minute goals ended up determining the winners of the round robin tournament. The results from the tournament were as follows:
Churn 7 points
Coln 6 points
Leach 2 points
Windrush 1 point
Combining the scores from the morning skills games with the afternoon tournament, our overall winners for House Football were Coln!
