On Friday 21st April we had our first House event of the summer term and although the weather was not what we had hoped for, it did not dampen the children’s effort and enthusiasm.
The day started with Year 1 and Reception working brilliantly in their house teams to interpret a key and then race each other to create a ‘funny face’ using coloured cones, bean bags and quoits. Year 2 , 3 and 4 were testing their map reading skills to navigate their way around an orienteering course which was set up on the field. They had to race each other to be the first in their teams to find all 6 controls. Finally, in the afternoon, Year 5 and Year 6 were given six figure grid references which they had to interpret and then use their maps to find the controls scattered around the school field as quickly as possible.
It was wonderful to see all of the children working together, encouraging each other and demonstrating the sporting attributes which we promote in school. However, there was a winning house which achieved the highest number of points in total for the day and that was Churn! Many congratulations!
