Warden Hill Primary School Cheltenham

Quicksticks Hockey

Our Quick-sticks hockey team, comprising of Faye, Amber, Jemima, Toby, Billy and Alfie played in the A Team festival, held at Pates Grammar school on Monday evening. With 16 schools competing in the 4v4 format, the Warden Hill  first competed in a pool of 8. They played brilliantly as a team, winning each game they played, and every team member scored on their way to 7 wins from 7 in the pool phase. Highlights included a fantastic ‘between his own legs’ trick shot from Billy in a particularly close game, everyone involving each other in the play superbly and the brilliant team performance coming back from 2-2 to win 5-2 in a tight game against Grangefield.

Topping their pool meant a game against the winners from the other pool, Leckhampton, to determine the 2022-2023 champions. A strong start to the game with goals from Faye and Toby saw the team race into a 3-0 lead, before a resilient Leckhampton battled back as the game ended 4-1.

Our Warden Hill team demonstrated such positivity, confidence and sportsmanship (and an abundance of skill!) on the pitch and truly epitomised what sport at Warden Hill is all about!
