STEM DAY, TUESDAY 8 APRIL
We are thrilled to announce that SPIRAX Group will be visiting our school once again to lead an exciting STEM Day on Tuesday, 8th April.
This fantastic day will be filled with hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and develop our students’ Working Scientifically skills. We are incredibly grateful to SPIRAX Group for returning as part of their community outreach work, providing our children with this wonderful opportunity for exploration and learning.
To ensure a successful day, we kindly ask for your support by sending in the following items:
- Year 1: materials for junk modelling, such as boxes and tubes.
- Year 2 and 3: no materials needed from home
- Year 4 and Year 5: 1.5-litre to 3-litre empty fizzy drink bottles.
- Year 6 materials for junk modelling to create a working lighthouse (boxes, tubes, any other packaging that you think would work to create a lighthouse)
We can’t wait for a day full of fun, creativity and discovery!
BIG WALK AND WHEEL
It is the Big Walk and Wheel from 24th March to 4th April!
In our eco meetings we have been discussing why it is important to be active on our journey to school. Eco have been learning that active travel is a great way to build physical activity into our daily routine. It helps us arrive to school more relaxed and alert, and is great for our mental wellbeing. An active journey to school is also better for the environment as it improves the air quality in our neighbourhood.
Therefore, during Big Walk and Wheel we are encouraging as many children as possible to walk, scoot or cycle to school.
Year 3 Cornet Showcase
Year 3 Parents are invited to watch the children showcase their cornet skills on Friday 28th March at 2:30pm in the Hall.

PARENT GOVERNOR VACANCY
We have one vacancy for a parent governor which we need to fill as soon as possible. Parent governors are elected by the parents of children currently attending our school. They serve a four-year term of office and bring a very important and valued perspective to the work of the governing board. Governors work closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to develop and review the school’s strategic vision and goals. Governors agree on the school improvement plan and contribute to the creation of policies, oversee their implementation and ensure they align with the school’s ethos and values. By actively participating in strategic planning, governors help shape the direction of the school and help to ensure its long-term success.
Year 3 at the Bristol Museum
Year 3 had a wonderful time on their trip to Bristol Museum. Read all about it in our news section
WELLBEING CHAT: EPISODE 4
In this week’s conversation Mr Antonious and Mrs Chavasse discuss supporting children to develop emotional resilience, taking a guide from the 7 Cs of Resilience. They look at the importance of real relational connection, positive modelling for character development, coping strategies and the importance of seeing competence as being part of a journey.
Free School Meal support during the Easter Holidays 2025
The scheme is for children in reception to year 11 who receive Pupil Premium (income-related) free school meals and attend a school in Gloucestershire. We are unable to consider college and sixth form students as well as children who receive infant free school meals (available to all children in reception to year 2); they are not eligible for this scheme.
Families who have signed up previously do not need to re-register for the Easter Holidays 2025 vouchers –Â they will already have been included. Families that have previously signed up will need to contact us with any changes to their circumstances. To ensure we reach all those who are eligible, we are encouraging parents that have not previously signed up, to sign up as soon as they can.
If you have any updates to an existing application, please submit a update existing details request via the Microsoft Form HERE so that we can update your details, as this is not an automatic process.
Applications for Holiday Free School Meal vouchers for the Easter Holidays are open from midday 18 March until midday 1 April. Voucher emails will be sent out week commencing 7 April.  Please encourage parents to check their junk/spam email folders during this period as sometimes the vouchers end up there. If parents have not received their vouchers by the 14 April, please encourage them to submit a query via the Microsoft Form HERE
Please note we check eligibility for the scheme by cross-referencing with the term-time free school meal register, so please make sure parents are registered beforehand. They can register by clicking HERE. If your school is one of the five that do not use this method, we will require confirmation from yourselves on the child’s eligibility. You can find more information on what schools these are on the same link.
For more information and to sign up, please visit our website –Â Holiday School Meal vouchers.
YEAR 4 PGL RESIDENTIALÂ

Transfer to Secondary School
3 March 2025 is National Allocation Day and the outcomes for Transfer to Secondary School for September 2025 are now available to view on the family portal.
You should also receive an email or letter advising you of your child’s school allocation. If you applied late or using a paper application form, you will be notified by letter.
- If you applied on the Family Portal and are happy with the school offered, please accept the place via the Family Portal
- If you wish to list your child’s name on the waiting list for your preferred school(s) or wish to request new schools, please complete the Secondary Reply Form (please do not use the Family Portal for waiting list requests)
- The closing date for waiting list requests in the second round of admissions is midnight 10 March 2025 and you will be notified of the outcome of your request by letter after 28 March 2025
- We recommend that you accept the allocated school place as this in no way affects your child’s position on any waiting lists or appeals for an alternative school place but it does ensure that your child has a school place for September 2025
Grammar School Entrance Test Information for September 2026 Intake
The Gloucestershire Grammar Schools’ Entrance Test registration window for 2026 intake will be open from noon, 19 May 2025 to noon, 27 June 2025. The schools are planning for the Entrance Test to take place on Saturday 13 September 2025.
Please be advised that the registration for and administration of the Admissions Entrance Test is all carried out by the Gloucestershire grammar schools themselves and therefore any queries in reference to the Entrance Test should be directed to the grammar schools. After the test, every grammar school you have opted to share your child’s score with will send you confirmation of whether your child has achieved a qualifying score for that school or not. Again, this is carried out by the Gloucestershire grammar schools and the Co-ordinated Admissions Team does not have access to this information.
It is important to note that obtaining a qualifying rank on the Entrance Test is not an automatic offer of a place in the grammar school(s). Parents/carers must also list the grammar school(s) on their secondary school application form to their home local authority between September 2025 and the closing date of 31 October 2025.
Please note – your child will not be offered a place in a grammar school if it has not been listed on your secondary school application form.

PTA: NEW Murphylicious Promotion – Deadline for Pre-orders Friday 4th April!
For our Easter Event this year, we are running a Charlie and The Chocolate Factory inspired Wonka Bar promotion with our very own hidden prizes! Based on our very own adorable Murphy, we have invented our very own Murphylicious Bar! Like Wonka’s golden tickets there will be lots of fun and exciting prizes printed on the inside of some of the wrappers for children to find. There will be lots of different prizes to be won, not only for individuals but also whole class prizes!  Our Murphylicious bars are available to pre-order until Friday 4th April using the following link bit.ly/MurphyliciousBars. Bars cost £2.50 each, and for each bar ordered you will receive a 95g Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Chocolate Bar as well as the chance to win one of our many prizes. The children will then be able to select their bars on Monday 7th April to take home, and find out if they are winners!  It is essential that you include the full name and class of the child the bars are for, to ensure they are able to select the correct number.  This can be written as the contact or in the message to merchant section shown during the payment process. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch on our email PTA@Wardenhill.gloucs.sch.uk

PTA: Your School Lottery – And LAST chance to win a Home Robot Bundle in the March Super Draw
Congratulations to Ms M who won £16.20 last week in our individual prize draw. As well as the weekly community prize, and the £25,000 jackpot, this month you could also win a home Robot Bundle or £1,000 cash in the March Super Draw, or you can take the £1,000 cash equivalent. Put your feet up and relax, while your new Rooma Combo J5 takes care of all the floors in your home with its vacuuming AND mopping options, while outside, your Lawnmaster L12 Robot Mower is hard at work, keeping your lawn under control, all whilst you kick back with a cup of tea, or the £1,000 cash alternative.  The Super Draw will take place on Saturday 29th March and the Super Draw gives people flexible ways to play – instead of committing to weekly tickets, you can choose to just buy tickets for the Super Draw week, meaning more flexibility and less commitment, whilst still supporting Warden Hill Primary School PTA. Existing supporters can even choose to TOP-UP their tickets just for the week of the Super Draw! So why not come and join us to make a real difference to the lives of the children and have the chance of winning great prizes.

PHARMACY FIRST
Pharmacy First is an NHS service that was introduced in 2024. It enables community pharmacists to assess, treat and, where clinically appropriate, prescribe prescription-only medicines for seven common health conditions, without the need to visit a GP.
All pharmacies in Gloucestershire provide this service. Most of the conditions are likely to be common amongst school-age children.
Using the Pharmacy First service will be more convenient and quicker than making an appointment at a GP surgery.
The seven health conditions and age ranges are:
- Sinusitis (aged 12 and over)
- Sore throat (aged 5 and over)
- Shingles (aged 18 and over)
- Earache (children aged 1 to 17)
- Impetigo (aged 1 and over)
- Infected insect bite (aged 1 and over)
- Urinary tract infection (women aged 16 to 64)
People can get treatment for these conditions by walking into a pharmacy, via a formal electronic referral from their GP surgery or via NHS 111. All pharmacies have private consultation rooms so that concerns can be discussed in confidence.
If the pharmacist is unable to treat the illness, they will recommend the most appropriate alternative services.
Community pharmacy teams are highly skilled, qualified healthcare professionals and experts in medicines.
HOMES FOR UKRAINE
Since April 2022 many schools in Gloucestershire have welcomed children from Ukraine who have fled war with their families. The Homes for Ukraine scheme has allowed Gloucestershire households to share their homes while Ukrainians get settled in Gloucestershire.
The Migration Team at the county council are urgently seeking follow-on placements for guests who have already been in the UK for a period of time, and have not yet fully regained their independence.
Relocating to a new host can mean children need to change schools, leaving their friendships and disrupting their education. We can support Ukrainian children in our school community by helping them stay in the same area and attend the same school.
If you would like to be part of the Homes for Ukraine scheme in Gloucestershire please get in touch with the county council. You will find more information on the flyers attached.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or would like any further information on the scheme using the following email: hfuteam@gloucestershire.gov.uk Alternatively, you can register your interest on the following page and we will contact you directly: https://apply-to-offer-homes-for-ukraine.service.gov.uk/
Please note that Gloucestershire County Council have locally increased all host payments to £600 per month, so lower figures published in the national guidance can be disregarded.
