Year 4 is a year in which we aim to build on the children’s growing confidence having already completed a year in the juniors. Independence is another key area that we aim to develop and children are encouraged to take greater responsibility for their learning and day to day organisation.
Underpinning everything we do in Year 4 is our firm belief that all children can succeed with the right opportunities and support. We teach the children how their brain works and how they learn, in order to help them develop a growth mindset. Children will realise that when learning, it’s not that they can’t do it, it’s that they can’t do it ….YET!
We have fun over the year learning about The Romans, The Anglo-Saxons and North and Central America. We love to be creative and make Roman mosaics and shields, Andy Warhol pictures and pop-up books. The children get a real buzz out of making electrical circuits, enjoy going on a bug hunt and get their teeth stuck into our work on the digestive system.
A highlight of the year is our residential trip in the summer term, which is great fun and helps to develop team work.
