Warden Hill Primary School Cheltenham

Year 6 PGL 2024

FRIDAY 12 JULY

Our Year 6 pupils are now on the coach.

Current ETA 4:15pm although this may change. We will keep you posted via Xpressions

THURSDAY 11 JULY

And all of a sudden it’s here – our final day at PGL! The final SUP sessions happened today, which seemed to be a highlight for lots and lots of children, along with laser tag for everyone, archery and micro-scooter sessions.

The traditional final night disco has capped our week – along with the equally traditional year group photo! What a week we’ve had: lots of fears faced, challenges overcome, new friendships forged (and old ones deepened) and many, many memories made.

Our final day will consist of the dreaded packing and room tidy – wish us luck – 2 more activities, a quick lunch and then heading home!

See you all tomorrow!!!

WEDNESDAY 10 JULY

The sun came out today for the first full day of good weather – perfect conditions too, as it wasn’t too hot at all. The children are thoroughly enjoying their 3 cooked meals a day and many are taking advantage of the morning hot drinks station too! Alongside the main activities, we’ve been enjoying our short periods of downtime at the tennis courts or out on our grassy areas playing ball games, tag or just relaxing in rooms.

Another full day of activities today with more harness-based activities, a few groups having their giant SUP session in the lake, others learned bushcraft skills in survivor or solved the mystery of the helium hoop and other challenges in problem solving. It’s hard to believe we’ve now had over half of our time!

Finally, the day finished (for our 40
or so football fans) with watching England v Netherlands with a few other schools in the disco hall. It’s fair to say the goals and the result went down extremely well in the room – we’re expecting a few hoarse voices in the morning!! It’s coming home!

TUESDAY 9 JULY

Our first full day on PGL and there were definitely a few tired faces after the first night in dorms. On Tuesday, groups have all had their first taste of our harness-based activities, with either trapeze, giant swing or climbing alongside some blindfolded activity during sensory trail and in the afternoon we all got our swim session in the pool – where highlight seemed to be pummelling the staff with all the balls and woggles.

We had a night solving a Cluedo mystery around site as our evening activity, which culminated in the ‘Wetsecution’ of the Princess, all while keeping a cursory eye on the Spain-France score!

Here’s to another day… Come on England!

MONDAY 8 JULY

We arrived in the sun soon after lunchtime, but the weather didn’t stay dry for long as the rain set in for the rest of our first day. We had a site tour of the key areas

from our groupies Cian and Bruno, settled into our rooms, enjoyed our first dinner and finished with a quiz for our evening activity – won by The Five Guys’ Cheeseburgers.

There were slightly alarmed faces learning of our 7:05 breakfast slot each morning but we’re looking forward to a jam packed week ahead.
