Medical

It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school when they’re unwell. Please use the below links to help you make a decision.

If child becomes ill during the school day, a decision will be made as to whether to contact parents/carers for early collection.

If it is essential for a child to take medication during the school hours, we invite parents to come in the appropriate time to administer it. In exceptional circumstances, school staff can administer the medication. Parents will be required to complete the Administering Medicine Consent Form and deliver the medication to the office.

INFECTIOUS DISEASES

Please inform the school if your child contracts an infectious disease, which can have serious implications for other children and staff.

SICKNESS AND DIARRHOEA

Guidance from NHS UK: children with diarrhoea and/or vomiting must be kept off school until at least 48 hours after their symptoms have gone.

ASTHMA

Children diagnosed with asthma must have a second inhaler that will be kept in school. Please also complete the School Asthma Card and provide your child’s Asthma Action Plan, if available.

MEDICAL CONDITION AND ALLERGY

If your child has been diagnosed with a medical condition or confirmed allergy, please let the school know by completing the relevant forms. Please note these have to be updated/confirmed at the beginning of each academic year.
