This term, the children will be learning and practising spellings each week as part of our English curriculum.
Every Monday, your child will be given five spellings to learn. These spellings will be stuck into the back of their Reading Journal and will be tested on the following Monday.
We encourage children to practise their spellings regularly throughout the week. A useful method they can use is Look, Cover, Write, Check:
1. Look at the spelling carefully.
2. Cover the word.
3. Write it from memory.
4. Check it against the original spelling and correct any mistakes.
Below is a table showing the spelling test dates and the spellings that will be tested each week.
Thank you for your support in helping your child practise their spellings at home. Regular practice, even for just a few minutes each day, can make a significant difference to their confidence and accuracy.
