Headteacher’s Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

The stage is up in the hall – which can mean only one thing… Christmas is coming!
It’s always such an exciting time of year in school, and seeing the stage go up really brings that festive feeling to life. Over the next few weeks, the hall will be buzzing with rehearsals, music, and creativity as our pupils prepare for their Christmas performances.

A huge thank you to all the parents who were able to complete our short survey. I’ve already started to collate the results and will be sharing them with you in the coming week. I want to say this now – I really valued your honest contributions in the open box question. Thank you!

Our theme for whole-school assembly this week has been Take Notice – one of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing. It’s been wonderful to see pupils reflecting on how noticing the world around them can make a difference to their wellbeing.

Our lunchtime provision continues to improve thanks to Miss Barrett and Mrs Taylor, who began planning back in the summer to make lunchtimes more enjoyable for our children. Pupil voice has been central to this work, and this week saw the launch of Forest School at lunchtime, starting with Year 5 and Year 6. Murphy and I were there on Thursday, and it was fantastic to spend time with the children and take in the nature around us.

We also welcomed Faye Hemming, our School Improvement Partner, into school this week to work with our Senior Leadership Team. It’s always good to be challenged externally – it keeps our focus sharp and helps us identify those small improvements that lead to the best outcomes for our children.

Finally, thank you to all the parents who joined us for the Spotlight Showcase this week. The positive feedback from so many of you as you left after seeing your children’s work was just wonderful. Your support means so much to us.

That just leaves me to say have a wonderful weekend. I’m off to Surrey to visit my sister’s family for a pre-Christmas get together!

Warmest regards
Georgina Flooks
