Recently, pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 took part in exciting and engaging STEM workshops.
During their session, Years 5 and 6 tackled a range of hands‑on challenges. They solved binary puzzles to unlock a cryptex—releasing some well‑earned treats—explored different environments using virtual reality, and programmed drones using Scratch to launch, move, land, and even perform flips.
Year 4 children also greatly enjoyed their session, exploring a variety of uses of technology. A particular highlight was using VR headsets to investigate an Anglo‑Saxon village, allowing them to revisit and deepen their understanding of a History topic studied earlier in the year. Exploring space and “visiting” the Moon proved to be a real favourite! Pupils also had lots of fun code‑breaking, using anagrams and letter clues to unlock a codebreaker and earn a reward.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience, gaining valuable insights into technology, problem‑solving and coding.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the volunteers who made this fantastic opportunity possible.
