Doddie’s Triple Crown

I’m delighted to share some exciting news about a special collaboration between our school and the incredible MND charity My Name’5 Doddie.

Following the phenomenal success of Doddie’s Grand Tour 2025, which raised over £1 million for MND research, Rob Wainwright, Mark Beaumont, and their team are back with the 2026 edition of their epic annual cycling challenge: Doddie’s Triple Crown.

This year’s challenge will take place from Tuesday 10th – Friday 13th March, covering an astonishing 800 miles over four days, finishing in Dublin the evening before Scotland takes on Ireland at the Aviva Stadium. The route is:

  • Day 1: Melrose → Leeds
  • Day 2: Leeds → Gloucester
  • Day 3: Gloucester → Pembroke (overnight ferry to Ireland)
  • Day 4: Rosslare → Dublin

We are proud to be supporting the Dawn Patrol Team, made up of 9 riders and 3 support crew members. As part of their journey, they will be staying overnight in our school hall, and we want to make them feel as comfortable and welcome as possible.

Here’s what we’re doing:

  • Depending on timings- lining the streets to welcome them/see them off
  • Providing camp beds/blow-up mattresses and bedding for a good night’s rest
  • Offering a warm welcome meal and breakfast the following morning

Our School Council will soon share more ways we’ll be supporting this fantastic event and making it a true community one, but for now, we’d love your help with the following:

  • Rollaway beds with mattresses or camp beds
  • Single duvets, pillows, and bedding sets

If you can lend any of these items, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. Your support will make a huge difference to these incredible riders who are raising funds for such an important cause.

This connection is extra special for me personally, as Pauline Alexander, the Dawn Patrol captain, is an old friend from my university days in Edinburgh!

I’m also thrilled to share that EG Carters, who built our school, have generously donated funds to help cover the cost of food for the riders. If you work for a business that might be interested in supporting this fantastic cause, please let them know what we are doing – we’d love to involve more of our community partners!

And here’s something exciting: our school logo will be proudly displayed on the back of the riders’ shirts as they take on this incredible challenge!

Thank you for helping us make this a memorable and meaningful experience for everyone involved!

Warmest regards,
