Headteachers Update

Dear Parents,

We began the week with a truly wonderful violin concert led by Debbie Kingswood, our much loved violin teacher who has been part of our school community for over 22 years. To say the children’s performances were stunning would be an understatement. The talent on stage was a joy to watch and listen to, and it was clear how much of Debbie’s passion and expertise has shaped their musical journeys.

As some of you know, Debbie officially retires this year. We are deeply grateful for everything she has brought to our school: from Spring Concerts and Christmas recitals in the church to countless performances for parents and pupils. Her love for the violin has always shone through, shared generously with every audience and every child she has taught. Debbie — in the words of ABBA — thank you for the music.

This week also marked a special milestone for our new Reception children, who joined us for their ‘Meet the Teacher’ session. It was a delight to see them walking proudly down the corridor, sporting their new sports tops and carrying their book bags. A few were so settled they didn’t want to leave. We look forward to welcoming them back next week for the next stage of their enhanced transition — play dates.

Finally, I want to thank you for your understanding regarding our early closures on Wednesday and Thursday. It was not a decision I took lightly, but it was the right one for the wellbeing of both children and staff. The hot weather has made sleep difficult for many (adults included), and I hope everyone manages to rest and recover over the weekend.
Despite the heat, the children have certainly made new memories this week — with whole class water fights proving to be a particular highlight.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend when it arrives.

Warmest regards
