Year 3 at the Bristol Museum

Year 3 had a wonderful time on our trip to Bristol Museum. A particular highlight was seeing so many real Egyptian artefacts on display and recognising them from our Egyptian topic. We saw amulets, canopic jars, children’s toys, scarabs, Egyptian pillows (not as comfy as ours!), and many more! We even saw a real mummified body in a beautifully painted tomb!

We also attended a fabulous workshops on Rocks and Minerals. We learnt more about how tectonic plates move to create earthquakes and volcanoes. We were lucky enough to work in small groups with Geology students from Bristol University. Together we used magnifying glasses to examine and identify many different rocks and minerals, and consider how these rocks many have been formed.

After lunch we enjoyed exploring more of the museum’s exciting collection. A wonderful day that really brought our learning to life!
