Year 3 had a fantastic time on their recent trip to Bristol Museum.
A real highlight of the day was seeing genuine Ancient Egyptian artefacts and recognising many of them from our Egyptian topic. The children were excited to spot amulets, canopic jars, scarabs, children’s toys, and even Egyptian pillows (which they agreed were not quite as comfortable as ours!). One of the most memorable moments was seeing a real mummified body inside a beautifully decorated tomb.
During the visit, the children also took part in an excellent workshop on Ancient Egyptian artefacts. They had the opportunity to handle both real and replica objects, as well as investigate mystery items from daily life in Ancient Egypt. Using their knowledge and curiosity, they made thoughtful suggestions about what the objects might have been used for—just like real historians.
After lunch, we all explored more of the museum, with the dinosaurs and fossils section proving especially popular!
The children were a credit to the school throughout the trip. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and excellent behaviour made it a truly enjoyable and memorable day that brought their learning to life.
