Year 4 had a fantastic time on their WW2 trip.
The children dressed up as evacuees, complete with gas masks and name labels, ready to experience what life might have been like during the war. They enjoyed travelling on a steam train, singing wartime songs such as the class favourite, “Run Rabbit Run”, catching a German spy, and even hiding in an air raid shelter. They also listened to two real accounts from people who had been evacuated themselves and heard their moving stories. The children met their new headmistress, who explained what their new life in the countryside would be like, and explored real artefacts from the time, including clothing and toys used by children during WW2.
